eMotion car rental mobile app

A mobility service built into the hotel stay.

eMotion partners with premium hotels to let guests rent electric vehicles directly from their accommodation, removing much of the friction of traditional rental services.

I redesigned the booking experience for a new collaboration with FIAT, introducing the Fiat Topolino, Fiat 500 Spiaggina and Vespa Elettrica while improving usability, clarity, speed and trust throughout the journey.

A functional service that no longer felt effortless.

The existing eMotion app worked, but its navigation, availability information and reservation details felt fragmented and visually outdated.

Hotel guests often need to make a decision quickly, so the redesign had to reduce uncertainty while creating a visual identity that could bring FIAT and eMotion together.

Make the booking journey easier to understand before making it more expressive.

“A rental flow should feel as simple as choosing a room, not completing paperwork.”

Flow analysis • UI audit • Wireframing • Visual exploration • Prototyping

01

The booking flow became easier to scan.

Search, vehicle selection and reservation steps were reorganised into a clearer sequence with fewer competing actions.

02

Information became easier to trust.

Availability, pricing, vehicle specifications and booking details were surfaced more consistently throughout the experience.

03

FIAT and eMotion became one visual system.

The redesign combines eMotion's service experience with FIAT's bold colour identity without making the interface feel overloaded.

One booking experience from discovery to pickup.

VISUAL SYSTEM

FIAT colour DNA, simplified for a service interface.

The visual language uses Roboto, a dark neutral background and a focused palette derived from FIAT vehicle colours. Bright accents distinguish vehicles and important states while the supporting interface remains calm.

HOME

Start with the right vehicle quickly.

The home page centres the experience around a simple destination search and visual vehicle cards. Price, category and favourite states are visible immediately so guests can compare options with minimal effort.

SEARCH

Three questions: Where, When and Who.

The search flow follows familiar travel-booking patterns. Guests choose a destination, select dates and define their group before moving into vehicle selection.

VEHICLE DETAILS

Everything needed before committing.

Each vehicle page brings together price, range, speed, capacity, charge level and trip information so guests can evaluate a vehicle before starting the booking flow.

BOOKING

A guided flow instead of one long form.

The reservation process is broken into focused steps for pickup, insurance, optional extras, driver information, payment and confirmation. A persistent progress indicator keeps the user oriented throughout.

YOUR RIDES

Upcoming rentals stay easy to review.

Reservation cards and car detail screens keep pickup, drop-off and location information together so guests can quickly understand what is happening next.

PROFILE

Account information without unnecessary complexity.

Personal information, payments, privacy and support are grouped into one predictable place so account management stays separate from the core rental flow.

The redesign was not only about making the app look newer. It was about making the rental journey easier to trust.

The project reinforced how much clarity depends on hierarchy, timing and consistency. A strong visual identity matters, but it becomes useful only when it supports the decisions users need to make throughout the booking experience.
